WATER DAMAGE
Clogged Drains
* This is where water drains slowly or not at all. Usually caused by hair, dirt, food waste, small objects and even toilet paper buildup.
* Clogged drains provide perfect breeding grounds for germs. Stagnant water may attract insects and other pests that can transmit diseases to you and family.
Leaking Pipes
* When water bills become suspiciously higher than normal, there maybe an undetected water leakage. This must be resolved as soon as possible to prevent further damage, especially if water spreads to electrical appliances.
* Pipe leakage is the responsibility of HDB and condo homeowners, not condo management or HDB.
Water Heater Issues
* Water heaters develop interior rust over period of time. Therefore, proper maintenance must be made to ensure safe and good condition.
* The rust, not only cause health concerns, will stress the metal chassis causing the heater to work overtime and consume more energy. Over time the rust will leak into the water supply.
Sewage Backup
* Damaged or blocked plumbing and back-flow from the sewerage system can cause sewage overflows to occur at home.
* As sewage contains harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, do avoid direct contact with sewage since it can result in illnesses such as gastroenteritis. Wear protective clothing (such as rubber gloves, boots and eye protection) when cleaning.
